Welcome to Kids and Moms Playgroup!!!
KAMP started in September 1989 as a way for moms (and dads!) to meet other parents in the community for friendship, support and adult conversation. KAMP has grown and evolved over the years and is a great way for kids and parents to form friendships that go beyond the doors of our program. The same group of parents (or caregivers) and kids meet on the same day each week so that both adults and children are able to begin and maintain friendships. Are members are mostly from East Gwillimbury but we have a large number from Newmarket, Bradford and area as well.
KAMP is organized as a co-operative playgroup, and each week a different group of moms is "on duty" and responsible for the needs of the group that day. We incorporate the use of crafts, free play, snack time, story time and singing to foster early development of children from birth to age 6. For the moms, we have a scheduled Moms Night Out the last Thursday of each month for dinner and adult conversation (shhh... without the kids)! We also schedule visitors, outings and special events including the annual Christmas Party and June Picnic.
Ok, so that's the formal description and there are more "official" guidelines, schedules etc. farther into the website. Here though, is what playgroup means to most of us. It is a place to meet with other moms once a week while your child (or children) plays in a safe environment. You can share stories about sleepless nights, potty training and cute moments with no expectations about how much you interact with your child or what you teach them while you are there. You can have coffee and sometimes "mommy snack" while your child (or children) plays. You can do a craft with your 5 year old, a puzzle with your 2 year old, encourage your toddler to push the baby carriage around or watch your baby play peek-a-boo with a friend. If you have preschoolers of different ages, they are all welcome (my son was 3 weeks old when he came for the first time with his 3 year old sister). To most of us, K.A.M.P. is a place for you and your child to make friends that will last into the elementary school years and beyond. I also want to mention, that although we say "moms", we also have dads, grandparents, caregivers and nannies as well who are more than welcome.

We encourage you to come and to try our playgroup. We meet in the basement of the Queensville
